First responders were dispatched to a Grandview Avenue home in Rye shortly after midnight on Saturday, Sept. 14, when a fire broke out in a local residence, prompting a response from several area fire departments.
Upon arrival, officials said that firefighters were met with heavy fire throughout the structure and required mutual aid from surrounding departments.
Crews worked for hours to get the blaze under control, before leaving the scene at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Saturday morning. No one was home when the fire broke out, officials noted.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and members from the city’s Building Department are expected to assess the damage this week. Officials said that the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
“A lot of people/organizations play a part in operations like the fire we had yesterday morning. Many at the scene, many away from the scene,” the department said. “We can't thank them enough for their help. Thank you and stay safe.”
